Piedmont Precast
PIEDMONT PRECAST is a more than 80 year old company that manufactures precast concrete products. Unlike other manufacturing teams, they have a rich culture and deep history in the Southeast.
Good design is unfortunately a low priority in the manufacturing industry, so we had a real opportunity to set Piedmont Precast above its competitors. Our rebrand and website redesign set a new foundation for the company to continue to grow and thrive.

The concept
Piedmont Precast carries many different concrete based product lines, but the one thing they all have in common is their modularity. The big, heavy structures they produce are made from smaller, sturdy pieces. It’s also reminiscent of the deep-rooted importance of their company culture; they wouldn’t be as strong of a company without each person that makes up Piedmont Precast. These ideas inspired the brand icon and patterns.

Did you know precast concrete manufacturing was an industry? Because I certainly didn’t!
I’m always amazed by the breath of industries out there. For me, Piedmont Precast was a particularly surprising business type that had many unique challenges in the website redesign. From strategy to UX, I completely overhauled the site map and structure, accounting for the many different product and audience types. In the design phase, we implemented a new brand and enhanced it with animation styles. Finally in the production phase, we managed a ton of content across 6 products and more than 30 sub-products.
Let the website do the work: Find a Contractor
Piedmont Precast needed their website to be a better sales tool. I reimagined the site map and UX so that they could:
Account for all their product lines
Allow the sales team to use the website as a live portfolio with potential clients
Provide a tool that could reduce time consuming sales calls with consumers
For this last point, we came up with the “Find a Contractor” page, that gave our homeowner audience an opportunity to search directly for an installation professional, freeing up their sales teams from these time consuming calls.
Internal template structure: Products & Sub-Products
To minimize the number of custom designed and coded pages, we needed all of our different product lines to fit the same template. With 6 different products and more than 30 sub-products, we carefully strategized on our organization structure, to best showcase the product images and specifications.
Experience enhancers: Custom Animation and Hover States
The structures Piedmont Precast builds have dimension and strength, which I knew couldn’t be fully represented with a flat website design. I designed many custom animations and hover states throughout the site to give it that dimension. Here are a few of my favorites.
